I’m a Creative Virtual Assistant based on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.I actually started out in a completely different career. I have a degree in psychology and spent about 10 years working with autistic kids doing ABA therapy & supporting in a classroom setting. I enjoyed the work, but over time I became really interested in finding a way to work online and have more flexibility in where and how I worked.
Around 2019, I started learning more about online business, social media marketing and different ways of making money online. That eventually led me to working with a virtual assistant agency, where I received training, started taking on clients and realized I really enjoyed this kind of work. For the first few years, I freelanced casually on the side while still working other jobs. I also spent about a year working as an administrative assistant, which gave me even more hands-on admin experience.
Eventually, I decided to take the leap and go fully remote, and I’ve now been running my freelance business full-time for the past two years. One of the biggest reasons I wanted to work remotely was the freedom that comes with it. I love travelling and exploring new places, and I like being able to spend more than a week or two somewhere before rushing home because my vacation time is up.
While Vancouver Island is home base, I love having the flexibility to move around the Island and work from other places when I want to. I work hard and care about doing good work for my clients, but I also really value having a life outside of work. When I’m not working, I’m usually hiking, camping, or traveling. My goal is for both my clients and I to have that work-life balance we all crave!
I love that I get to combine a lot of the skills I’ve picked up along the way to help other small business owners with the work they don’t have the time, skills or desire to do themselves. I like that no two clients or days are exactly the same, and I’m always happy to learn something new or figure out a better way to get something done. The tasks you might dread doing are the ones I genuinely enjoy doing. Behind my adventurous spirit is also a gal who loves to nerd out on her computer and has a weird obsession with taking courses and continuing to learn more and more.
